Short version: no accounts and no ads. We measure visits with Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, which uses cookies. The tools never upload your PDFs, and nothing about your files reaches analytics.

Your PDFs in the tools

The Playground and the tools embedded in guides (Table Settings Lab, BBox Picker, PDF Doctor) read your file with your browser and process it with pdfplumber running in WebAssembly on your device. The file is not sent to us or anyone else. Passwords for encrypted PDFs stay in the page.

To run, the tools download the Python runtime (Pyodide) from the jsDelivr CDN and the pdfplumber and pdfminer.six packages from this site. Those requests reveal your IP address to jsDelivr and to our host, as any web request does; they contain nothing about your file.

What the site collects

  • Request logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard request data, such as IP address, requested page and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
  • Analytics. Every page loads Google Tag Manager (container GTM-N4LTC49V), which runs Google Analytics. Google receives the page you view, the page you came from, your browser and device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you move between pages, and it sets first-party cookies (_ga and similar) to recognise repeat visits. We use this only to see which guides people read and what they search for, never to identify you. You can block it with any content blocker, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on. Google’s own terms are in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • No ads at the moment. If we add advertising, this page will be updated first and will say exactly what is used.
  • Local settings. Your theme choice (light or dark) and selected tabs are stored in your browser’s local storage, never sent anywhere.
  • Email. If you write to us, we use your message only to reply and to fix what you reported.
